- Do not text while driving. Even talking on the phone via a hands-free device can be distracting, so keep phone calls to a minimum
- Keep your eyes on the road
- Always have two hands on the steering wheel
- Be aware of your surroundings, including other drivers
- If you’re sleepy, find a safe place to pull over and take a break
- Have an emergency kit in your car
Also, equally as important, before embarking on any road trip, make sure your car is receiving regular maintenance checks and that your tires are properly inflated.
